 A Word From Our

 Executive Director

  Since Joey and I first talked about the programs at Faith Hope and Love Jesus, the college scholarship was the one that focused on the survivors.  It was the last of three we felt could be impacted by our efforts.  Every year when I read the entries, I think about those conversations.  Joey was always adamant that it should not have a specific topic.  That it should be lead like the rest of our mission by the community we support. 

  So, the guidelines would be unencumbered and unabated to open a dialogue by the young adults that would take part.  This year continues in that theme with stories that inspire, filled with hopes and dreams.  Each is told using words of clarity with an individual perspective that lets the world in. 

  It is with great pleasure to announce that Kyla Pokorny is the recipient this year.  Her bubbly spirit sings through her words of compassion.   To be aware of the plight of others instead of focusing on ourselves is something we can all take from her.  “Is your glass half empty or half full?”  Let us use her example to be grateful for what we have – to reach out and make a difference every day.

  To the exceptional young men and women that indulged us with stories of courage and resilience, a profound thank you.   As always, I am humbled to serve you.   My prayer is that your life will continue to remind us to be grateful in all things.  I wish you much success and many blessings!
